For the last ten years, Doctor in Ecology, Fred Olivier has first studied reef ecosystems then Antarctic wildlife and environments combining
science with her other passions: film making and photography. She enjoys the
challenges of being autonomous, running remote, field based projects in wild
places - cold, warm or underwater - with the reward of bringing back some
useful imagery.
In parallel, she worked as an environmental engineer, fisheries observer,
wilderness photographer, expedition guide, lecturer and skipper and she is
often involved in documentary production as logistic support/camerawoman and
sound recordist.
Fred regularly contributes to BBC Natural
History books, web projects and Australian and European exhibitions and
her corporate client list includes companies such as Sony,
MillerTripods and Icetrek Expeditions.
Between Antarctic trips, Fred also captures reportage and landscape pictures
in Melanesia, Queensland, the Great Barrier Reef and in the wilderness of Tasmania, her adopted home island.
Fred is currently based in the Solomon Islands aboard her yacht KUNA
(www.kunayacht.blogspot.com) involved in the production of an educational
DVD on the wildlife of Morovo Lagoon. Conveying an environmental
conservation message through photography is one of her major goals. - letting
the images speak for themselves.
